North Park Jamboree Soccer Program
Introduction
The North Park AYSO Jamboree Soccer Program is an exciting new program specifically designed for the learning needs of four-year-old children. The objective of the program is to provide young players and their parents with a “pressure free” introduction to the great game of soccer. We are exposing children to simple, fun activities and games that require limited practice and a time commitment consistent with the specific attention spans of these young players.
We recognize it is not just about the game at this age but also about the simpler items such as having their own soccer ball and even “a real uniform!” Our job as parents, coaches and administrators is to make this so fun for kids that they can’t wait to sign up for soccer again the following year!
Jamboree Soccer Format
Jamboree Soccer One with One is a combination of two different formats that when applied together provide a fantastic introduction to soccer for our youngest players. In AYSO, the term “jamboree” means the teams are formed on a weekly basis so the kids get to play with different kids each week. One with one refers to the concept that ideally each player will have a parent or other adult working directly with them on the field. Parental involvement adds yet another level of enjoyment for our young players.
Each week the session is divided into two components: First, the One with One activities and games led by a Master Coach appointed by the league, which includes parent or adult involvement. The second session is a 3 v 3 game where the children are broken into teams of four or five and then play a 20-minute game, divided into four quarters. Parents are asked to line the playing field to keep the ball in play and the players “somewhat contained” to the playing field. Parents will also be asked to help keep games organized and on time. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and video cameras.
